Ingredients
3 tbsp short-grain rice, rinsed
1 ½ cups water
¼ cup carrot, finely chopped
2 tbsp spinach, finely chopped
⅓ cup silken tofu, cubed
Directions
- Blanch the spinach in boiling water for 20 seconds, then drain well and finely chop.
- Peel the carrot, cut it into small pieces, and blend in a blender until finely chopped.
- Cook the rinsed rice in water over low heat until very soft and porridge-like.
- Add the finely chopped carrot and spinach; continue cooking until vegetables are tender.
- Add the silken tofu and simmer briefly.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Serving
Foods offered to infants should be soft and easily mashed with gums. This recipe is blended smooth and suitable for spoon-feeding.
This porridge can be prepared as a shared family meal. Do not add salt to your baby’s food. For the rest of the family, you can serve with added texture (e.g. less blending) and additional seasoning such as salt, soy sauce, sesame oil, or white pepper, if desired.
