Activities with items around the house

Mirror Fun: Put a child-safe mirror in front of your baby. They will enjoy looking at themselves and making funny faces.

Music Time: Sing or play gentle music for your baby. You can use things in your house as musical instruments, like tapping spoons together or shaking a closed container with rice inside to make sounds.

Peek-a-Boo: Play peek-a-boo using a soft blanket or your hands to hide and show your face.

Tummy Time: Lay your baby on their tummy on a soft, clean surface with colourful toys around them. This encourages them to grab the toys and to crawl.

Sensory Bags: Fill a plastic bag with a little water and food colouring. Close the bag tightly let your baby explore the colours and movement by gently squishing the bag.

Texture Exploration: Get different fabrics, sponges, or brushes with different textures. Let your baby touch and feel the different textures

Drumming Session: Give your baby some pots and wooden spoons or plastic spoons to create their own drum set. They can tap on the pots to make different sounds

Sorting and Stacking: Get pots and cups of different sizes. Help your baby to stack them to learn about different sizes

Water Play: Fill a large pot or bowl with a little water. Let your baby splash and play with their hands. Watch closely to keep them safe.

Treasure Hunt: Hide small toys in different pots or containers. Help your baby lift the lids and find the hidden toys.

Cooking Assistant: Let your baby help you when you are preparing meals by giving them some safe kitchen items to play with while you cook. They can pretend to stir, or whisk, with child-safe kitchen tools.

Always watch your baby during these activities and only use safe, age-appropriate objects. Have fun and enjoy these special moments with your little one.
