Preparation: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Freeze: Up to 2 months
Serves: 4 infant portions and can also be adapted for the whole family
Ingredients
- 130g salmon fillet, boneless (small fillet)
- 150g (1 small) potato, peeled & cubed
- 160g spinach
- 15g unsalted butter or some olive oil
Safety note
- Make sure the salmon is fully cooked and all bones are removed before serving. Do not add salt for babies under 12 months. The final texture should be soft and and easy to mash, suitable for spoon-feeding.
Directions
- Remove the skin from the salmon.
- Peel the potato and cut it into small cubes.
- Microwave the butter for 30 seconds until melted.
- Fill the steamer with water to about two-thirds full and brush the steamer tray with the melted butter. Place the salmon and potato into the steamer and steam for about 20 minutes. Add the spinach during the last minute of steaming.
- If you do not have a steamer, you can boil the potato in a pot of water until soft, and cook the salmon in a pan on low heat or wrap it in foil and bake in the oven until fully cooked.
- Put the salmon, potato, and spinach onto a plate and mash or chop to suit your baby’s age.
- Allow to cool before serving.
Serving
Do not add salt when cooking for your baby. For the rest of the family, you can add any spices or fresh herbs after setting aside the baby’s portion. Serve with rice, bread, or salad.
